Not Afraid to Publicly Show Our Faith

On October 13, 2007, more than 2,000 public rosary rallies were held across the United States, sponsored by the America Needs Fatima Campaign. The Academy participated by joining the local rally in Harrisburg, Penn.



   
St. Clement's Island, 374 Years Later
September 31, 2007
More than three centuries ago, a group of Catholics from England landed at St. Clement's Island and said the first Mass in the English-speaking New World. 374 years later, the boys of the Academy visited that historic place to learn America's Catholic history and pray for our country.

From August 9-19, a group of young men were formed into the mold of crusader knights; they were challenged to action and taught by the example of past saint crusaders.

A few weeks ago, the Academy began taking fencing lessons. Fencing is an ancient sport that emphasizes the intellect over brute force, all the while treating one another in a chivalrous manner.




 
A Great Campaign

Ding! Ding! Went the bells as they woke up the young crusaders on a breezy morning at the Academy. The big question on everyone’s mind was, “Who will go on campaign that afternoon?”


 
A Year at the Academy

Life at the Academy is so challenging that young men find how true it is that youth was “made for heroism”. In 2006, two actions made us sense this most: defending the honor of Our Lord in protests against The Da Vinci Code, and promoting the right to life of the unborn both at the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., and at an actual abortion clinic.

It is no secret that we live in a world of sin. The Church is being assailed by all of its enemies at once, and Our Lord and Our Lady face one of the most widespread abandonments in history. At this time, the young men of the Saint Louis de Montfort Academy opposed this world by raising a 24-foot cross in front of their school for all to see.

The walls were cracked, paint and wallpaper pealing off, and the room in general disrepair. Yes, this was the office of our dear J. Edward Parrot where he spent countless hours of dedicated work before his death nearly three years ago. After his death, we decided the least we could do was to renovate his office and transform it into a memorial library containing his own books.

In response to the blasphemous movie The Da Vinci Code, the staff and students of St. Louis de Montfort Academy participated in several peaceful and legal protests of reparation in front of movie theaters. Few things are a formative for young Catholic men than to make public reparation and protest for a public attack against their faith.

The second of the American TFP’s National Call to Chivalry Camp for boys was held at the TFP-staffed St. Louis de Montfort Academy in rural Herndon, Pennsylvania, from August 11-20. Until recently, it would have been rash to travel around staunchly Presbyterian Scotland handing out fliers about Our Lady. However, times have changed and what the eight of us, consisting of myself and seven American high-school students from the Saint Louis de Montfort Academy in Pennsylvania, proposed to do for three weeks in June 2005 was precisely that.
