A Great Campaign

The boys had to defend their faith in the frequently hostile environment of a modern university.

Ding! Ding! Went the bells as they woke up the young crusaders on a breezy morning at the Academy. The big question on everyone’s mind was, “Who will go on campaign that afternoon?” Once breakfast was over, many young, excited students rushed to their headmaster to find out which would go to Penn State at the service of Our Lady to defend morality. Some (having to stay back) were disappointed, but others were overjoyed and got everything ready to depart.

Upon arriving on campus, all were anxious to start the campaign defending General Pace’s stance against immorality. We unloaded the van, took out the fiery red standard, and put on our red sashes ready to prove there are still a few good men left ready to fight for Our Lady. Into a V-shape we formed and from our lips came the words, “Tradition, Family, Property (thrice); America, America, America!” The moment this happened, everyone around stared in amazement. After that, on we went distributing fliers, requesting surveys, and shouting with pride slogans promoting traditional morals.

The boys prayed a public rosary for our nation and for our troops in Iraq.

After spreading the word about General Pace, handing out hundreds of fliers, and even getting into a few well-won arguments, we started our “Rosary Crusade.” In front of all the passersby, we boldly recited the sorrowful mysteries; as people walked by and saw our rosaries, their faces just filled with shock seeing young men brave enough to do this when most are afraid to even make the sign of the cross in public.

At the end, we again formed into a V-shape and shouted the TFP slogan. As Prof. Plinio Correa de Oliveira, inspirer of the TFP’s, once said, it sometimes takes more courage to stand up and protest against false beliefs than perhaps it
it did for the crusaders to fight the enemies of the Faith.
