St. Louis de Montfort Academy is not a reform school for troubled boys. Our Academy exists to form young men into bold Soldiers of Christ—disciplined, courageous, pure, and unwaveringly faithful. Our mission is to raise counter-revolutionary Catholic leaders who confront today’s moral crisis and defend the Church and Christian Civilization.

This purpose is explained in Revolution and Counter-Revolution by Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira. At the Academy, manhood is synonymous with sainthood, and boys are taught to live the Faith without compromise.
 

The Academy uses the accredited Seton Home Study curriculum, taught in a classroom environment by members of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP).

What truly distinguishes our education is the emphasis on character formation—fortitude, discipline, chivalry, and a love for purity and reverence for all that is true, good, and beautiful. With a 5:1 student-staff ratio, teachers are always available for personal tutoring and mentorship.

Yes.

• All students take the CAT each year.
• Juniors and seniors may take the SAT, which we arrange through a local school.
• Parents cover the test fees.

Daily Schedule

Including Sunday, we attend Mass four times weekly, with opportunities for additional Masses when available. Confession is offered several times a week, anchoring the boys in sacramental grace.

This strong spiritual life contributes to the Academy’s extraordinary record: 98% of our alumni continue to practice the Faith.

Prayer is woven into the rhythm of each day.

• Daily Rosary in common (often multiple mysteries)
• Many boys pray all 15 decades given by Our Lady to St. Dominic
• The Carmelite Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, chanted several times weekly
• Prayers before and after meals, classes, games, and all activities

Prayer forms the backbone of the Academy’s pursuit of virtue.

Most parents find our tuition affordable.
It does not automatically increase each year—only when needed.

We provide transportation to and from Harrisburg International Airport (MDT).
Families choosing other airports must arrange their own transportation.

Yes.
Parents may visit on weekends or bring their sons home if they live nearby. While we do not currently have parent lodging on campus, we can suggest local accommodations.
Note: Weekends often include special programs, outings, and formation activities, which many boys consider highlights of their school year.

Yes—students may call home any time, provided they are not missing scheduled programs or study periods. Ideal times include:

• After lunch
• After games
• After dinner

Calls should not be made after night prayers, so boys devote that time to reading, prayer, and their examination of conscience.

Outings occur approximately every other month, in addition to the monthly trip to the American TFP Headquarters. Activities include:

• Hikes
• Concerts
• Historical sites, museums, and battlefields
• Shrines and religious sites

Some years may include international trips to Europe, South America, or Canada. These optional trips are the parent’s financial responsibility. Students should ideally have a passport in case opportunities arise.

To uphold the Academy’s zero-tolerance policy on impurity, students may not possess cell phones or personal digital devices.

For required writing and testing, the Academy provides computer access with strictly limited, academic-only availability.

• 10 single-subject spiral notebooks (college-ruled for grades 9–12; wide-ruled for grades 7–8)

Linens and towels are provided.

The Academy uniform includes:

• Navy blue blazer with Academy logo
• Grey dress trousers
• Necktie in Academy colors
• Polo shirt with Academy logo
• Windbreaker with Academy logo

Uniform items (except the windbreaker) are ordered through Schoolbelles using a code provided upon acceptance. Windbreakers are purchased directly from the Academy.

Schoolbelles also offers additional items such as shirts and belts.

Yes. Central Pennsylvania has a cold, snowy winter season.

Your son will need:

• A dress coat, hat, and gloves
• A play coat, hat, gloves, and snow boots for outdoor activities

Winter gear may be shipped later if needed.
